The Origin of my Obsession

There is something comforting about the patterns of Pyrex past (Maybe that is a corny holiday reference to the "A Christmas Carol". Could the holiday bug finally have bitten me?).  The patterns are recognizable from my childhood. My gramma does not have pieces of Pyrex in the "Gold Butterfly" pattern.  She has a set of compatible dishes from Correlle in that pattern.  We have been eating dinner off those dishes ever since I can remember.  Just as long as I've been eating off those dishes I can remember my aunt using her set of "Spring Daisy" casserole dishes.

Over the past year I've been picking up small pieces I found at the thrift store.  It was not until this week I purchased several large pieces.  A 1958 promotional piece.  A holiday casserole dish.  A set of casserole dishes in "Autumn Harvest".  Although ebay has taken some of the fun out of the hunt.  To me there is still something appealing about going to thrift and vintage stores.  Hunting through dusty shelves and discovering a new piece.  Now the excitement will come as the mail man leaves packages on my front porch.  Pieces from all over the country that I might not have otherwise discovered.
